At least five people have died in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu after a car in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a state-run bus the state's Krishnagiri district, a senior police official said on Tuesday.
All five passengers died on the spot and their bodies were sent to local government hospital for an autopsy, he said.
Xinhua news agency reported quoting the official that a probe has been ordered into the incident.
The driver of the bus fled the scene soon after the accident, the police official added.
