An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale has shaken the eastern parts of Indonesia on Thursday morning, according to the meteorology and geophysics agency.
The moderate quake struck at 10:51 am Jakarta time with an epicentre at 35 km northeast Seram Timur of Maluku province and depth at 10 km under sea bed, Xinhua news agency reported citing an official of the agency.
Indonesia is prone to quake as the archipelagic nation lies on a vulnerable quake hit zone called ‘the Pacific Ring of Fire’.
