Fifty-two people have been killed after a bus in which they were travelling caught fire in Kazakhstan’s north-western Aktau region.
The country’s interior ministry said on Thursday that only five passengers managed to escape the burning vehicle.
All of the dead are Uzbek citizens, reports Reuters citing the ministry.
It was unclear in which direction the bus had been traveling, but the route is widely used to transport Uzbek migrant workers to and from Russia where they often take on work on building sites.
The ministry said the apparent accident had happened at 10:30 local time (0430 GMT), but provided no details about its cause.
