The Anti-terror squad of the Indonesian national police thwarted a suicide attack plot and nabbed three alleged terrorists involved with the plan.
Police disclosed on Monday that the three had planned suicide bombing attacks on police officers.
Evidence showed that they had arranged to make high explosive bombs at the location where they were arrested, national police spokesman Inspector General Setyo Wasisto said.
One of the three alleged terrorists had planned to blow himself up in the police headquarters in Bogor town on the outskirts of the country’s capital, Xinhua reported quoting the spokesman.
Another of them had plotted to stab policemen in a traffic police station in the town, while the third was ready to attack the mobile-brigade police command there, he said.
In raids police seized explosive materials and devices for launching suicide bomb explosions, he added.
“Based on the laboratory analysis the suspects planned to make TATP (triaceton triperoxide) which is the raw material for high explosive bombs,” Wasisto said.
The three alleged terrorists were captured in Bogor district of West Java province and have been transferred to mobile-brigade jail in Jakarta, according to him.
