India reported the third death from COVID-19 and the first in its financial capital of Mumbai on Tuesday.
The person was a 64-year-old man, who had a travel history to Dubai, Xinhua reported citing local media.
The patient was among the confirmed coronavirus cases in the country's western state of Maharashtra.
Maharashtra has 39 confirmed COVID-19 cases including three foreign nationals and the state is moving toward a partial shutdown of public places including theaters, swimming pools, gymnasiums, shopping malls.
As per official update on Tuesday morning, India had 125 active cases of coronavirus including 22 foreign nationals, and 13 patients have been discharged after treatment so far.
