At least four people died and 23 others sustained injuries as a state-run bus fell into a deep gorge near Dethal in Kumarsain area in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, a senior police official said.
The accident occurred when the driver of the bus, carrying 30 passengers, lost control over its wheels while negotiating a curve on the road, leaving four passengers dead on the spot, the official said quoting eye-witnesses.
The injured passengers had been admitted to a local hospital in critical condition, he said.
A probe had been ordered into the incident, reports Xinhua news agency.
Road accidents are common in the hilly state. In April, 44 people were killed when a bus plunged off a mountain road and fell into a river.
