An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 rattled the southern Philippine Davao Occidental province on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The institute said the earthquake, which struck at 10:09 am local time, hit at a depth of 68 kilometers, about 181 kilometers southwest of Sarangani town in Davao Occidental province.
The institute said the tremor, which was tectonic in origin, will not cause damage, Xinhua reported.
No aftershocks are also expected, Phivolcs said.
