At least 24 people, including 10 women and 3 children, were killed when the private bus they were travelling in fell into Maiz river on Kota-Dausa mega highway in Bundi district of Rajasthan in India early on Wednesday. The bus was ferrying a wedding party.
Officials said 28 people were travelling in the bus, the Times of India reported.
“The injured were rushed to a government hospital in Lekhari from where critically injured are being referred to a hospital in Kota,” SI of Lakheri police station Rajendra told TOI on phone from the spot.
Most of the people have been rescued with the help of local villagers, he added.
The wedding party was reportedly going to Sawai Madhopur from Baran early on Wednesday morning when the bus driver reportedly lost balance and the bus fell into the water-filled Maiz river from the over bridge that did not have railing and walls.
