Creativity. Do you have it?
Now, more so than before, people tend to use this word to describe themselves. It is also common for many recruiters to explicitly state that they are looking for creative people in their team. Apprentices and freelancers are on the rise while the typical head-nodders are going down. Which means that these days creativity is being valued more than effort or time. Yet, if you consider yourself to be a creative person, what should you do for your future?
Building an ideal environment is the key to achieving success for the creative mind. Whether we adapt to an existing environment at our disposal or create a new one that we can be more productive in, environment is vital to any worker.
Problem solving is the next key ingredient to a creative individual. People are inherently problem solvers. That is why we have survived and reached where we are now. Whether it was survival or, “Hey! I’m too lazy to switch ON the lights!”, people have gradually found a solution to everything. The creative individual must harness their skills and knowledge to firstly solve problems and then sell their problems to the world. What was once “time is money” will eventually turn in to “ideas are money.”
Lastly, sell your product. Your product may be a tangible thing or just an idea. Creative minds are creating some of the most innovative solutions to things around us and it is high time that these individuals learn to sell their products. Salesmanship is therefore key to the creative mind. Whether you are creating a brand or posting pictures of your cute dog on Instagram, in this day and age, products sell and a creative person’s objective should be to monetise from their creations.
