THE two elected mayors of Dhaka city appeared on the media after completing two years as mayors of Dhaka. As residents of New Eskaton in Dhaka we are yet to experience any good services promised by the mayor in his election manifesto. Fortunately New Eskaton road separates Dhaka North City Corporation from Dhaka South City Corporation. We would rather request both the mayors to walk along Banglamotor to Moghbazar junction jointly using northern side of the footpath belonging to DNCC and return from Moghbazar to Banglamotor using foot path belonging to DSCC. This expedition may not take more than thirty minutes and they can really experience the practical situation for the residents. Hundreds of abandoned vans, shopping baskets, used and dilapidated wooden boxes etc. are just lying around as garbage and a portion of them has already turned into soil. Roadside restaurants, seasonal fruit sellers, vegetable selling vans, fish selling vans etc., are far too many.
Recently the Prime Minister advised the city dwellers against occupying public roads and footpaths by building or erecting ramps or so and such a ramp is there at WAQF Bhaban where only cats, dogs or cattle can walk on these ramps as the structure is too steep to mount which is abnormal for a govt. building. I believe if the two mayors walk further along, auto parts selling area may be relocated in view of traffic jam in the area.
