AT PRESENT, all roads lead to Ekushey Book Fair at Bangla Academy. Immense participation in the fair reflects people's hunger for knowledge regardless of age. Their constant enthusiasm for books at the fair is a sight worth experiencing. For those who prefer less crowd, weekdays are ideal for visiting the stalls. A festive mood exists in the entire book fair. As February 21 draws nearer, the crowd rises. Both publishers and retailers are satisfied with their brisk business alongside authors visiting the fair to interact with readers. The fair includes cultural programs that attract a wider audience. Though the advent of computers are diminishing the buying, reading or even speaking of books - our common fixation with books remains. As books are the greatest way of acquiring knowledge, we should encourage the youngsters accordingly. Reading not only expands one's mental horizon but helps to stimulate the mind. The pursuit of an enlightened nation never ends unless the children are encouraged to read books. Verily, Ekushey Book Fair is a blessing for the society as an ideal platform for future writers and readers.
