IT was a shocking revelation that four-lane average flyover cost is higher in our country than that of Pakistan, India, China and Malaysia although labour and material cost for construction is less in our country than any of those mentioned above. In our country, it takes more time to complete a project and it escalates the cost. Average cost per kilometers of flyover is almost double than those of other countries. No wonder we find ourselves topping the chart of the most corrupt nations, year in and year out. We cannot let our money wasted like this. There is no reason why per kilometer cost of flyover should be higher than those of the countries mentioned above. Corruption has seeped in the every sector of our country and we must eradicate it and bring transparency and good governance, if we want to accelerate our pace of development. Corruption is eating away the essence of our development efforts and hard earned achievement of the common people. The unlimited greed of a section of people in the country seems to have surpassed all previous records and is depriving the majority of the people of their share of prosperity. The common people expect that the government will come down hard on corruption and corrupt people to reach the fruits of development at their doorsteps.
