WHAT will be facilities and amenities in a car of tomorrow? Naturally look, style and shape are bound to change. Amenity wise, the major change will be in electronic modifications that will make the car safer by reducing the possibility of any mistake that may happen to a tired driver as fatigue and tiredness have been identified as the most common causes behind most accidents in the western world, where owner-driven car is the norm.
Modern car will be an electro-mechanical set-up that will instantly correct any faulty action, as and when it occurs, due to a wrong move taken by a tired driver. In effect, it will act as an ever-present fast responsive assistant to the driver to avoid any possibility of an accident. Additionally, it can even talk to the driver or even provide chosen background songs or music that helps retain the driver's attention to the fast-changing traffic situation which is important for safe driving under any hectic traffic flow at a busy time.
There will a situation that can lead to the car being the best friend and helping hand for the usually lonely driver, driving to or returning from work every day. This device can indeed be a 'friend in need' for the tired and exhausted driver usually when he or she is returning from work. However, given the situation now in the subcontinent where most cars are chauffeur-driven, this is not a necessity today. However, when availability of drivers will be lesser, we too can be benefited by such devices, may be around the year 2060 or so.
