The road below Kanchpur bridge, Narayangonj, is in a dilapidated condition for the last five years. The road leads to the Adamjee Export Processing Zone and every day many foreign and local investors use this road. It seems that there is no one to see the bad condition of the road. It is a very important road and every year goods worth millions of dollars are exported to foreign countries through this road. The Adamjee Export Processing Zone has, however, a good road network, but this extremely dilapidated segment of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway is an eyesore and spoiling the image of the Adamjee EPZ.
A few days back, I went to the Adamajee EPZ with a foreign buyer and I was really embarrassed by the shockingly poor condition of the road below Kanchpur bridge. How can such an important road remain so much neglected year after year is beyond the comprehension of any sane person! Narayangonj has been playing an important role in our national economy, but it is subjected to negligence. The government is trying to attract foreign investors but poor road structures at this point of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway dampen the mood of the investors. I hope the authorities will wake up and take steps to repair the road without wasting any more time.
