BUYING and selling wild birds and animals are a common sight even in our Dhaka city and it is sad to see it is happening under the nose of the members of law enforcing agencies as they turn a blind eye to this illegal activity. It is sad to see that birds and animals leading a life in cage when they are supposed to be free. They are wild birds and not domesticated ones. How could it be that these beautiful creatures are caged.
Many educated people keep wild birds and animals in cage without knowing that it is against law. We have specific laws for protection of wild birds and animals, but it is not being properly enforced. Often we read the law enforcers arresting traders for selling wild birds and animals, but soon they come out securing bail and restart their business. Keeping wild birds and animals in cages is often seen as a fun. But what they do not know is the pain involved for the birds and animals. The government should therefore conduct a campaign against cruelty to animals and thereby keep everybody abreast of the regulations around the world. Birds are born free and they should remain in that way. When we catch wild birds and animals, we disturb the environmental balance. We should not disturb our ecology and help preserve it.
