FOR centuries rainy season has engulfed the imagination of the poets of the country. Some depicted it as a romantic season when the hidden feelings of the heart can be divulged to the beloved ones. But with the passage of time and mostly due to man made situation, the rainy season has not only lost its attraction but has turned into a season of miseries for the city dwellers. Rain has disappeared from our poetry and literature. For the citizens, rain brings additional sufferings as the commuters can not get public transports and the three wheelers ask for exorbitant fairs which the passengers can hardly afford. The broken and dilapidated roads get worse and sufferings of the commuters are compounded. Indiscriminate use of poly bags often becomes a reason for water logging. During the rainy season children, women and elderly people become the worst sufferers. The road potholes often cause fatal accidents.
As we now have two city corporations, we hope we shall see some improvement in service. The random use of poly bags should be banned so that water logging ceases to exist. The citizens should also be aware of their responsibilities and it will be easier for the authority to bring positive change in our city life.
