A 56 per cent quota imposed by the government in the country's most prestigious job sector is not only irrational but also unjust. It seems to us that the Public Service Commission (PSC) has kept the rest 44 per cent quota for the general students. A country can not go ahead with less meritorious students and the meritorious are not only being deprived of but also increasingly frustrated. Thus the country is losing an opportunity to have its best students for coveted profession like BCS jobs.
The government has recently recommended that almost 67 per cent of total BCS cadres will be recruited from among the meritorious students through public examinations which is an auspicious sign for the future. We welcome this suggestion and it is making us more optimistic about our future.
