IT is indeed sad to see that most of the Dhaka city walls are disfigured by various graffiti and posters and banners. It is an eyesore for all those who live here but also for those who visit Dhaka occasionally and for the foreigners as well.
The other day when I was passing under the Maghbazar flyover I found the surrounding area was smudged by various kinds of posters and writings on the wall. As a matter of fact, wherever we go in the city we see posters and banners everywhere. There is a specific law prohibiting sticking of posters on walls, but unfortunately no one seems to care about it. The law should be strictly enforced. And punishment should be handed to the offenders. Citizens also have a role to play in this regard.
I shall request the High Court to issue orders to the city corporations to remove all posters, banners from the city walls. We can make the city cleaner and tidier if we can stop the aggression of posters and banners on our city walls. A clean and tidy home is good for a family, and in the same way, a clean and tidy city is good for the citizens. Dhaka is our capital and so let us make Dhaka a better place to live in.
