DESPITE being hot favourites to win the Euro Cup final and dominating for the most part of the game, the French failed to win against resurgent Portugal. When Christiano Ronaldo was being carried out of the field due to an injury, many thought it would be a cakewalk for the hosts to beat Portugal and win the cup. But in the end the Portuguese players held their nerves and showed great determination on the field. They finally won, thanks to a brilliant long-distance goal from substitute Eder in the 109th minute of the match. The superman of France, the losing finalists, Griezman, became the best player of the tournament. Most of the Bangladeshi fans were favouring Portugal because Cristiano Ronaldo has a big following in this country after Lionel Messi. Personally I was happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo, who is known as CR7, celebrating the best moments of his football career. In our country, a lot of enthusiasm is generated when big tournaments like the World Cup, Copa Cup or Euro Cup take place, but unfortunately we do not see the same during the domestic tournaments. I sincerely wish that the lost glory of our football will come back and enthral the football fans like before.
