I am writing on behalf of the non-resident people at Dubai, who bought some goods with their hard-earned money and sent them to Bangladesh. Unfortunately, all the parcels containing the goods got stuck at Chittagong airport. Most of the parcels contained household items and fruits whose validity will soon be over. The C&F agents are not being able to release the items as yet and the customs authority is charging as surcharge an exorbitant amount for the delay, like Tk.1500 per kg whereas each kg of the items cost Tk.400. Since individually we can not book any item because of small quantity, we have to book through a C&F agent. Our C&F agent is not being able to clear the items for onward delivery to the addressees. Similar complaints are lodged everyday against the C&F agent. People of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal also send parcels to their countries in the same manner without any difficulty whatsoever. A letter in this regard has been sent to our Prime Minister's office also. Since yours is a reputed daily in Bangladesh, you are requested to please publish this letter so that our problem is resolved once and for all. This is a question of our country's image and as non-residents we request for your cooperation in this respect.
