National unity against extremism

National unity against extremism
THE Prime Minister on Sunday claimed that national unity against terrorism and radicalism has already been formed in the country after militant attacks at Gulshan and Sholakia. The Prime Minister said so when BNP-Jamaat alliance is demanding national unity to fight extremism. She explained that as necessary consciousness to eradicate militancy from the country has already been created among the people, there is no necessity to include BNP-Jamaat to form national unity. She also blamed BNP-Jamaat  alliance for allegedly providing assistance to the militants in creating anarchy in the country. But we are not yet near a situation when everything is under control. We sadly remember the ghastly attack of the militants where we have not only lost many human lives, but our reputation as a peace-loving nation is at stake. We saw dastardly killing of a number of foreigners on our soil. It is undoubtedly an alarming sign. It largely damaged our own image in the outside world. Being a Muslim country we are ashamed for such unkind and brutal incidents.
The whole nation is worried about its safety and security and foreign investors are staying away. The issues of terrorism and radicalism have not been resolved by taking a few alleged criminals under custody. The problem is far too deep rooted. We need to work together and help each other to resist all kinds of corruption and anarchy throughout the length and breadth of the country and leave no stone unturned to eradicate the last traces of crime and anarchy. It is not a political issue of the ruling party alone, it is a matter of defending our freedom from the onslaught of the diehard criminals, to say the least. So, national unity is a demand of the situation and we should make all-out efforts to establish it. It may be a good start for establishing better understanding among the political parties.
