ONE of my banker friends who works in a 2nd generation bank told me that he is still uncertain if he would be able to celebrate Eid with his family members this year. He has long been cherishing to spend the coming Eid holidays with his near and dear ones in the countryside. His home district is in northern part of country which is quite far away from his place of work. Most of the times he avoids going home during Eid due to the hassles involved. But this time he really wanted to go his village home and accordingly booked his ticket well in advance. But he came to know later that he had to do office in between holidays for the grater interest of the nation as instructed by higher authorities. He changed ticket twice in this way. He was not in a position to sell the ticket and so he had to bear the loss of the ticket bought earlier. His family members were waiting for him eagerly and he had to inform them that he was not coming. They are obviously very disappointed.
This has not happened with this friend of mine only, but with most of the Bankers. They have to be vigilant during the holidays for keep rotating the wheels of economy of the country by sacrificing their personal lives.
