THE number of kidney patients is increasing in the world and Bangladesh is no exception. Bangladesh has become a target of the international criminal syndicates that buy kidneys from the poor people and sell the same to kidney patients. Patients in need of kidneys buy them and get them transplanted in their bodies by surgery. For some one suffering from kidney ailments in the developed world, it has become easier to buy kidney in the black market of underdeveloped countries. Selling human organs for money is illegal but it has been going on for a long time. The government should look into this matter. Often the criminals trick the poor people and remove their kidneys for onward sale in black market. It is high time we stopped illegal organ business and save the lives of many people from being trapped in this criminal nexus. Â
