Too many private cars on limited roads

If we look around, we see too many private cars are plying on our roads and choking the throat of city traffic. We cannot blame the citizens for their increasing ambition to own a car as the public transport system is in a shambles.
It has been found that 70 per cent of our roads are occupied by the private vehicles. In a private car, two to three persons can move from one place to another, but a public bus carries 50 to 60 passengers at a time. For all city dwellers who use public transports, it is a matter of immense sufferings to move from one place to another.
I am sure if public transport is improved, the common people will be discouraged to buy private cars as it is an expensive affair to maintain a car. In the process we shall be able reduce pollution and traffic congestion. Many families in Dhaka own a number of cars, which creates additional pressure on our limited roads. Experts believe if public transport system is improved, the number of private vehicles will automatically go down.
