The demise of the Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej

THAILAND, the 'Land of Smiles', is in mourning as its beloved king His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej passed away on October 13, 2016. The Thai King who was an architect, scientist, painter, musician, photographer and author, is not only loved by the Thai people but also by people from all over the world for his visionary leadership. King Bhumibol, who always led a very humble life and whose main goal was to improve the lives of the common people, ascended the throne in June, 1946.
Throughout his life, King Bhumibol was involved with thousands of social and economic development projects and that is why he is also portrayed as the 'development king'. The King has shown how one can change the course of a country in the positive direction, unite a country and bring smiles to the faces of millions in a country through leadership, hard work, dedication and passion. In today's world, where most leaders around the world practice partisanship, the King is certainly a role model for the current and future leaders.
King Bhumibol has passed away, but he will live forever in the hearts of the Thai people and people like me who had the opportunity to live in Thailand and observe the unique projects of the King. May the Thai people have the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
