Technology and its impact

TECHNOLOGY is the most important gift of civilization. Today a world without technology is unthinkable. Most of our problems are solved today with the help of technology. But nothing in the world is an unmixed blessing. There has to be some disadvantages as well and internet is no exception.
With the phenomenal development of technology all around people are becoming increasingly dependent on it. Internet, a great invention of technology, has already stolen the attention of people from all walks of life. We can get any information on any subject through the internet. Doctors, engineers, scientists and researchers are being immensely benefited by internet so much so that their success now largely depends on the information received through this facility. Innumerable social sites have developed that are providing great avenues of communication between individuals. But the all-pervading influence of internet has made us forget that we are also social beings. We tend to do many things that defy social bond. We must not forget that if we sacrifice social values, we shall cease to be human beings any more.
As an inevitable result of overpowering technology, the present generation is becoming dependent on it. Members of the present generation are more involved in using technology. They have no idea about outdoor games. They are glued to Mobile Phone, Tab, Video games, Internet, YouTube, etc. Most of the children are becoming self-centred. They have very little contact with the world around them.
Although modern technology is undoubtedly a blessing, it should be used in a judicious manner so that there is no negative impact on our health and well-being. Use of technology should be carefully regulated so that we do not become victims of its ill effects. The parents will have to keep their eyes on their children and make sure that they are not overusing the technology of internet by endless browsing and working on social sites. Awareness should be created about proper use of technology. They should be asked to devote longer time to outdoor games and cultural activities which will provide them with more recreation and amusement. Recreation is indispensable for improved health and well-being.
