Stray dogs: A hazard for health and safety
MANY stray dogs are seen roaming in many localities of the city and creating a health hazard. The Dhaka city corporation should take immediate steps to remove these stray dogs and save people from a potential health hazard.  Particularly the school-going children and women feel very insecure and scared seeing a large number of stray dogs roaming freely. It is good to know that the city corporations have already taken a project of dog sterilisation and we shall see its positive outcome in the coming days. The number of people suffering dog bites is rising as the number of stray dogs is increasing.  At least two to three hundred people get treatment for dog bites every day in the city according to a report.  In 2012, 1500 people died from rabies. Often it is seen that vaccine against dog bites is not available in the hospitals. I hope the concerned authorities will take appropriate steps to ensure availability of vaccines in hospitals.
