HONESTLY, I sometimes wish that 'sites' such as facebook, twitter (or any social networking site) had not been invented at all. Undoubtedly, they are great and incredibly useful. But the way teenagers abuse them, and turn them into mini social control rooms is frankly awful.
At first glance, you might think this quote came from a parent or grandparent lamenting on the disadvantages of social networking and how social media has affected today's children.Â
Social networking is a common phenomenon in today's modern life. There is hardly someone who does not use a social networking site. You should not be surprised if you find a school-going kid of class six or class seven is using facebook. This and other sites are turning into addiction for teenagers and distance their friends and relatives with them. This leads to lack of emotional connection. It is widely seen in today's family functions where everybody is talking to each other, eating together or sharing feelings, a teenager is sitting in a corner busy with phone, tab or a laptop, chatting with friends. While using these sites excessively they are separating themselves from society and associating them with the virtual world. Undoubtedly this will have a great impact on their study, health, mind and heart also. Social networking is a platform of freedom, where anybody can disguise him or herself and pretend to be someone else who does not exist. Â There are millions of fake ID's who are cheating others. These young kids are exploring the negative impacts by repeatedly encountering these fake people. Gradually such encounters encourage teenagers to step into the world of crimes such as cyber bullying, female abuse etc. When the input is wrong, how can someone expect a better output?Â
