Rohingyas crying for help

ROHINGYAS of Myanmar are fleeing their homes and taking refuge in Bangladesh following extreme persecution unleashed by the military of the country. Myanmar has seemingly overstepped all limits of humanity and let loose a reign of terror to drive the minority Rohingyas out of the country. Countries that claim themselves as champions of human rights have not responded in the way they are expected to as a result of which brutalities of the government of Myanmar against its own people continue unabated.

The extent of inhuman torture and killings of Rohingyas is mounting and countries that matter are watching it as silent spectators. We have been regularly watching in news media the heartbreaking images and stories about Rohingyas being persecuted mercilessly and influx of refugees in our country.

It is painful that our neighbours' houses are on fire. We must help the displaced people in their times of distress and do everything within our means to motivate the outside world to rise against the brutal regime of Myanmar, otherwise we shall cease to be human beings any more. Myanmar must stop its persecution of the Rohingyas and heed former United Nations chief Kofi Annan and grant the Rohingya their overdue rights.
