IT is difficult to gauge daily actual demand of electricity since this is managed to an extent by low-level distribution personnel of Electric Supply Authorities of Dhaka, who may shut off local consumers' power supply due to blown distribution fuse or even if a consumer has outstanding unpaid bills. Naturally at all times power generation will be the same as demand of grid that is connected. More important is to mention the generation capacity available during peak hours. For example, if a 10MW generator supplies only (say) 6.5MW of power, based on consumers' demand, it will be generating 6.5MW of power, which is also the power demand at that time inclusive of any transmission or distribution losses. So both the demand and generation will be the same figure of 6.5MW and in that respect it is meaningless. It is better if both the figures for demand and generation capacity are available. Then one can know exactly the power generation figure that can be made available at any time during the maximum demand period from 6PM to 10 PM.
