AIR is important for all living beings on earth to survive. It plays a vital role to keep us healthy and fit. But Dhaka's air is unhealthy and the capital often finds itself among the most polluted cities in the world. Â
When we breathe, we can feel the poor quality air. Three Bangladeshi cities Dhaka, Naraynganj and Gazipur have been put among the top 25 cities with poorest air quality. Children and older people are the worst sufferers of air pollution. Healthcare services are direct costs whereas lower productivity due to poor air quality is an indirect cost. We need to create consciousness among the common people so that they can learn the importance of pollution-free air and play a role to preserve it.
The government has a big role to play in it. I hope we all will work from their respective fields to reduce air pollution and make our city livable for us and for our future generation.
