A good student who got GPA 5 in both Secondary School Certificate and Higher School Certificate exams, completed his graduation and dreamt of a decent job, soon gets frustrated. To his/her utter dismay, s/he finds out that a decent job is only a distant dream. During the days of Cultural Revolution, China had suspended varsity admission for 4 years and offered trade courses to hundreds of thousands of students. China did not have required number of institutions to employ such a large number of students and therefore trade courses were offered which produced a significant number of entrepreneurs who became self-reliant. In our country millions of students are completing their graduation and join the long queue of unemployed youths.
Every year a good number of universities are being added to the list where students are getting higher education and entering the job market. But it is still not possible to find a job for all the graduates. Only a few are employed while others remain unemployed and turn into a burden for the economy. We can follow the example of the Chinese government to combat our unemployment problem. We need entrepreneurs, and it will be possible when a change will come in our education system. Technical education can be a way of coming out from this situation. The government should emphasise on profession oriented education so that each student gets the opportunity to do something on his own.
