YOU just choose a product and order for the same through internet. You receive the goods after some time either at home, or in office as you desired. This was beyond our wildest of dreams five years ago in Bangladesh. But to-day this is a common scenario in Bangladesh. Online shopping is becoming increasingly popular among the city dwellers. In our city life online shopping helps us save time as well as money.
There are about 20 to 25 online shopping sites at present in Bangladesh. These sites sell anything and everything, from land, flats, cars to pots and pans and more. The most popular online shopping sites at present are Daraz.com, Ajkerdeal.com, Bikroy.com, Ekhanei.com, and Bagdoom.com. There are two types of buying and selling online. On Ekhanei.com and Bikroy.com, people can sell their used items. They put up pictures, prices and contact details and interested persons can respond directly to the seller. Daraz.com, Ajkerdeal.com and Bagdoom.com offer brand new products to the customers. They also give description and quote asking price for the product. They also offer home delivery service for the customers. The most popular items bought and sold online are electronic products, especially cell phones, computers, laptops, modems, pen drives, etc. Younger people are more akin to online shopping. There are a few hundred Facebook shops in Dhaka and other big cities of the country. People can thus do business from their homes. This is now known as f commerce. Fashion houses mostly use Facebook as their outlet. Airline tickets have long been available online, and over the past decade you can get bus tickets online too, on various routes. Shohoj.com has made it easier, where you can buy bus tickets of 11 popular bus services including Shohag, Hanif, Saudia, AR Travels, TR Travels, and more.
Online shopping has gained popularity over the years, mainly because people find it convenient and easy to bargain shop and you can have anything you want sitting at your home or office. With recent growth of Internet usage, 3G roll-out in 2013, and the vigorous marketing and sales of smart phones, e-commerce usage continues to grow at a rapid pace. Businesses have realized that the Bangladeshis are quite enthusiastic about technology and at the same time, are avid shoppers. However, with the numerous barriers to urban life in Dhaka city, citizens have been increasingly resorting to online shopping, with an increasing supply of virtual businesses to match.
