Next generation of leadership

IT is neither imperceptible nor incomprehensible that the country is in leadership crisis. Leadership crisis is everywhere, almost at all strata of our national life. I am sure my fellow readers will agree with me on this count.
As a regular writer in this column I would like to share some experience that I gathered while attending a discussion meeting on our present leadership crisis between Dhaka Tribune and Bangladesh Youth Leadership centre (BYLC) at the former's office. Dhaka Tribune recently sat with Ejaj Ahmed, founder and President of Bangladesh Youth Leadership centre (BYLC) that aims to create a new way of thinking about and teaching leadership in Bangladesh.
In course of the discussions, Ejaj Ahmed highlighted some of the root causes of leadership crisis in the country and challenges ahead for creating the next generation of leaders from the youth community of the country.
The subject of leadership crisis is coming up frequently in workshops and seminars in recent years. It has been mentioned many a time that leadership crisis is the root cause behind the current political impasse. As we prepare to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the Victory Day, it is more necessary than ever before that we examined what leadership means in the context of Bangladesh, how the "crisis" in leadership has precipitated and what we can do to overcome it.
