Indiscriminate littering should be penalised

LITTERING wastes here and there is a bad habit which makes the city unclean and filthy. The government should enact a law against it and anyone found littering indiscriminately should be fined from Tk.500 to Tk.1000. There is no respite from garbage thrown all over the place if specific laws are not framed for the offenders. I am sure, no advice or sermon is going to work unless people are compelled to throw the garbage at designated places. I think, sensible and conscious section of the people will appreciate such move. We see our people abiding by law when they go out to a different countries. Our people are not found to litter once they are out of the country because it entails penalties. They know if they do so they will end up paying a hefty fine. We must keep our cities clean to help keep our environment tidy and clean. We must not forget that cleanliness is next to godliness. Cleanliness is an important part of all religions. We cannot claim ourselves to be civilised keeping our environment dirty. If we keep our city and country clean, it will send a positive image of the country to our foreign visitors.  Europe and America have cleanest cities of the world. We should also emulate their feats and work towards making our country a clean and green one. Our collective efforts can change the situation.
