We do not see any hawkers in the commercial hub of Dhaka city, Motijheel, because of the recent eviction drive by the City Corporation. But still, many cars are found parked on the road and thus the road becomes narrower. Â I hope the law-enforcers will make Motijheel and as well as Dhaka city free from illegal parking. It is really surprising that even in diplomatic zone, Gulshan, we see a string of cars parked illegally. Â If we can free footpaths from hawkers and roads from illegal parking then the city traffic will have a much-awaited relief. About 70 per cent of the city roads are occupied by private vehicles as they are parked almost everywhere making movement of the traffic difficult. Â Every building must have adequate parking space so that we do not see any car being parked on the road. Â Dhaka is a city of almost 20 million people and the number is increasing. Â We must establish some discipline in our city traffic system, so that we can move the wheel of our economy faster. Â
