AS time becomes increasingly dearer, the Bangladesh Railways should think about introducing faster trains which will help reduce our time in long distance commuting. Some high speed trains should be added to the fleet of Bangladesh Railways to reduce sufferings of the commuters on the one hand and ease traffic congestions on highways on the other. For example, if we bring trains which run at 120 kms per hour it will reduce the journey time between Dhaka and Chittagong to two hours from the present six to seven hours. Our neighbours, Pakistan and India already have high speed trains. We should also immediately undertake a project to acquire high speed trains for Bangladesh Railways.
