BANGLADESH and India meet each other in their one-off Test match in February next year. The match to be hosted by India will be played in Hyderabad and it will be the first Test in India between the two nations after Bangladesh gained Test status in 2000. Cricket lovers of the country are happy, but they would have been happier if at least three one-day matches were included in the itinerary as one-day cricket would have added more attraction.
India is one of the best cricket teams in the world now. Bangladesh has also, of late, made enviable progress particularly in one-day and T2o formats. Bangladesh and India should play more matches between them so that the cricket lovers of both countries can watch some good cricket. Bangladesh however needs to improve in theTest arena as its success in this format is very limited. So far, Bangladesh won only seven Tests out of a total of 93.
Tamim Iqbal is the highest run scorer for Bangladesh in Test matches while Shakib is the highest wicket taker. Bangladesh has done better in one-dayers as it has so far won 74 matches against all nine Test playing nations. It has now emerged as a new cricketing power. I hope Bangladesh will play their best in the lone Test match against India.
