A cattle market for Dhaka\'s southern residents

DESPITE being a megacity of more than 10 million people, Dhaka's solitary cattle market at Mirpur is unable to cater to the upward demands of all 'Dhakaites'. Located in the city's northwest, Gabtoli cattle market is under the purview of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Since the outlet does not fulfil the requirements of Dhaka's southern half, it is imperative that DNCC's twin counterpart have its own cattle market. In fact, no cattle market exists in the neighbourhoods of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). As negative entropy requires an independent sale or purchase from multiple sources, such entropy technique does not apply to any cattle market. Despite having large quantity of municipal waste, DSCC's dumping area at the north of Jatrabari-Demra Road includes enough space for constructing a new cattle market. Therefore, DSCC should consider the prospect of installing a regular cattle market for Dhaka's southerners as soon as possible. Not only will it curtail the prolonged monopoly enjoyed by Gabtoli's cattle market but also relieve the megacity's southern residents. Moreover, DSCC can initiate a new source of income and eventually undertake numerous development programmes for its taxpayers.
