EVERYONE was surprised to see a cricket fan running on to the ground at Mirpur National Stadium when Bangladesh-Afghanistan 3rd ODI was in progress. The fan rushed towards Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe presumably out of love and respect for him. It was a great mistake for the fan called Mehdi Hasan which also exposed a serious lax of security at the ground. The overall security system at the ground should be reviewed and corrective actions be taken. The cricket fans of the country should appreciate that such practices are not conducive to development of the game and also give the trouble-mongers a chance to create trouble on the ground and develop a sense of panic and insecurity among the spectators. Bangladesh Captain was very kind and requested the law-enforcers not to manhandle the fan. I am sure, Mashrafee has faced similar situation in his cricketing life. Now the security will be tightened and I hope those security personnel who are responsible for this glitch and negligence will face the music. We cannot afford to take chances on security. Cricket is the most popular sport in Bangladesh and everything should be in place to ensure security on the ground and nobody should be allowed to disrupt peace on the ground.
