Iftar at Buddhist Monastery

In the backdrop of a pervasive feeling of fear and insecurity in society, an initiative by Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery to distribute food among poor and destitute Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan is a rare example of social harmony between followers of two different religions in the country. Everyday during Ramadan, iftar was distributed among hundreds of Muslim men, women and children. The Dharmarajika Buddist monastery began this project six years ago and the monk there says, Ramadan is the best opportunity to help the poor. Our Almighty is really omnipotent who make the Buddhist monks help the Muslims and a rare example of brotherhood is created in the way. The solidarity established this way is a lesson for the perpetrators of fatal attacks against minorities and secular members of society. Human beings are by nature peace-loving. Respect for each other's religion is an essential precondition for social harmony. Intolerance and disrespect for others' beliefs only make way for widespread hatred in society.
