WE were happy to know that the government is planning to cut down the fuel prices in the early part of 2017. This is a welcome move for the government as we were asking for it due to decline in world fuel price. Surely it will be a New Year bonus for the common people. Prices of fuel has decreased dramatically for last few years and compared to that the government has not revised the price.
I believe the price should have a system to adjust the fuel prices after every six months so that there is a consistency with the international market. Now the government is getting good leverage by selling fuel at high prices. Fuel price has now become a cushion for the government exchequer. We observed over the years that once the price of a commodity is raised, it does not go down even if the cost price of the commodity declines. I hope 2017 will be a year when we shall see a steady kitchen market and a steady growth in all sectors of the economy.
