THE TIGERS' overseas records are not particularly encouraging as is evident from their last encounter against South Africa. The way the Tigers surrendered helplessly in the two-Test series is really embarrassing. They lost the first Test at Potchefstroom by 333 runs and the second one at Bloemfontein by an innings and 254 runs. We were rudely shocked to see two successive crushing defeats. Bangladeshi players failed to put up a semblance of a fight and meekly surrendered. The have lost 42 away Tests out of 49 and the number of defeats tells a lot about our discomfort on foreign soil. Bangladesh has to play three ODIs and two T20 matches. Four new players have joined the squad and we sincerely hope that their presence in the team will make a lot of difference. At the end of the series we shall have to ponder over our performance in tests and identify what went wrong so that we are able to perform better in tests on foreign soil.
