Digital Window

It is observed that the access to ICT and implication of digital application have seen tremendous growth over the last few decades. This development of ICT sector which is one of the potential ones in Bangladesh has mostly been driven by web-based applications, standalone desktop applications, client-server technology, mobile apps, wireless technologies, both data and Internet connectivity based on nationwide networking, telecommunications and ICT infrastructure. It is explicit that our domestic ICT companies are also involved significantly in implementation of ICT solutions and are able to improve the skill substantially and also develop human resources in both technology and ICT management.

This publication, namely Digital Window, gives an overview of several topics that can help turn the traditional process of work and procedures into digital activities as is made evident by the business process automation, workflow, several other systems and/or software modules. Some of the topics included are Systems and System Analysis, Steps towards digital Bangladesh, Structured Query Language, Management Information System etc.

Digital Window is the first one from a series of publications to follow. Topics described in the Digital Window are on how to communicate the idea and implication of the implemented software for the Roads and Highways Department (RHD). It secures seamless advantage as a result of using a central management system, road maintenance and management system, e-GP, tenderer database management system, e-filing, GIS and other software modules which combine functioning of servers, storages, network switches, Internet routers, power supply etc.

The concept behind automation, business intelligence reporting, decision support, workflow, management information system, enterprise resource planning, end-to-end process lifecycle, paperless office, cyber security, biometric and other forms of technology-driven solution implemented on the top of ICT can be explicit. These provide for the organisations in Bangladesh to become DIGITAL. Such initiatives will allow the nation to grow and adapt to the needs of the changing environment of the world at a greater speed and bring a positive outcome in attaining the goal of 'Digital Bangladesh' in line with the 'Vision 2021'.
