THE Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is on for nearly a month at its designated site and has become a centre of attraction for the Dhaka city dwellers. Particularly at the weekend during holidays there is a rush of crowd from all over the place. There are also noticeable crowds of people on week days who want to avoid rush at the weekends. Over the years DITF has become a major attraction for the citizens for purchasing dresses and useful domestic appliances.
It is a good place now to hang out with friends and family members. The visitors get a lot of attractive discounts from most of the companies and some uncommon foreign items are also available. It is a good place to buy and I personally wait for this occasion throughout the year to buy many necessary household items. We see many foreigners visiting and roaming around the fair and enjoying its atmosphere. The fair offers a good employment opportunity for university students. Companies having pavilions or stalls in the fair hire university students as sales persons and in this way they get a break for marketing jobs and avail of some hands-on experience in marketing. We are less fortunate in respect of places of travel and recreation in the country and DITF offers one such place for us. For the recreation and entertainment hungry people, DITF offers an excellent opportunity in this respect. It is a place from where we can have a glimpse of our latest industrial and household products. In this respect, the fair should be made a permanent annual event.
