RECENTLY the cabinet decided that Primary School Certificate (PSC) examination be treated as public examination in the current year. I would like to congratulate the government for such a well conceived decision. I remember, when I was a student of primary and secondary levels in sixties of the last century, myself and my fellow students did not give emphasis on class V and class VIII annual examinations in traditional system. We used to give emphasis on SSC public examination and were very serious about it.
My elder daughter appeared in first PSC public examination. She was very serious and obtained stipend in talent pool category. She was also serious in JSC public examination and got stipend in talent pool category as well. Same thing happened in case of my younger daughter also. She was very serious in both PSC and JSC public examinations and obtained stipend in talent pool category. Indeed, students of class V and Class VIII in recent years have been giving more emphasis on appearing at public examinations and prepare themselves accordingly from the beginning of an academic year. As a result they learn more. Most of them do not take the public examinations lightly like other annual examinations. When they study more, they learn more.
