A two-day music workshop was held at the National Nrityakala Academy auditorium of the Jatiya Shilpakala Academy in the city to mark the anniversary of Beenkar Musical Society of Bangladesh.
In the concluding ceremony of the workshop, the students of Vandekhal, Acharya Jayant Bose (Pandit Niladri Nath, Kheali Pankaj Basu and Shrimati Patanjali Chattaji) and the Musical Society rendered classical music, said a statement.
Pundit Niladri Nath and Indian filmmaker Sravolanath Knotar were present at the workshop as resource persons.
Pundit Niladri Nath (India) and Kheali Pankaj Basu, the two disciples of Acharya Jayant Bose, rendered a duet Kheyal in the third phase. Ganaka Tan, Chhatat Tan and Saragama enchanted everyone in the audience.
Shrimati Dhranti Chatterjee rendered sub-classical music, thumri, ghazal, dadra, chaiti, hori and kashri.
Prominent cultural personality Kamal Lohani was present as the chief guest at the programme. Sohrab Uddin, the Director of the Music and Dance Department of Shilpakala Academy, former joint secretary and adviser (RNPCBL) and cultural patron Rabindranath Roy and noted dramatist Shankar Saujal Chowdhury were also present as special guests at the function.
