THE number of autistic children in our country is quite high, but unfortunately we do not see many government schools for such children. Autism is a neurodevelopment disorder and with the right kind of schooling and training many autistic children can live a better life. We should help these people to live a normal life so that they do not become a burden for their families and society. The school fees for autistic children are quite high, as unlike other children, one teacher cannot teach more one than one child. Often one teacher is allotted to teach one student. The poor parents cannot afford this special schooling so they keep their children isolated and they do not know what to do with them. We should encourage these children so that they can mix freely with other children of the society. We should also create awareness about the autistic children so that members of the society accept them as a part of the mainstream society. Every year, we observe an international day to mark autism disorder, but the situation is not changing much.
