EVEN though the 2-match Test series against England ended in a 1-1 draw and One Day International (ODI) series was won by the tourists 2-1, the overall performance of the Tigers was remarkable. They won the second test match at Mirpur by a convincing margin of 108 runs and showed signs of maturity. It was Bangladesh's first-ever Test victory over England.
Tamim Iqbal was the top scorer in the Test series with 221 runs. But the discovery of the test series was the wonder boy Mehedi Hasan Mirza who outshone everybody by bagging 19 wickets on his debut with his wily right-arm off breaks. He was adjudged 'Player of Test series'.
In the ODI series that preceded the test series, Imrul Kayes scored most runs (169) while skipper Mashrafe Mortaza captured highest number of wickets (8).
Congratulations for the Tigers for making a history.
