AIR pollution is a major health concern for the citizens of Dhaka. The city's air is heavily polluted. Dhaka is one of the twenty most polluted cities in the world and it is not surprising. We can make it better by consciously taking steps to change it. We should have 25 per cent green space in our city, but instead we only have about 8.0 per cent which is less than the required.
Air pollution causes various health complications like bronchitis, asthma, headache, dry mouth, lung and liver problem. Pregnant women, children and elderly people are the worst sufferers. Excessive carbon dioxide can prevent the oxygen intake by the blood vessels. The government can draw a long-term plan so that we can stop degradation of air quality. Air pollution is not only harmful for human beings but also for animals, plants and our ecosystem. Improved air quality can only help us lead a healthy and productive life.
